Maria Teresa Hacey de Lazaro, 66, of Ranson, departed this life on Sunday, September 25, 2011, surrounded by family at her daughter’s residence.
Born on June 2, 1945, in Colombia, South America, she was the daughter of the late Luis Hacey and the late Sofia Vera de Hacey.
Maria was an active parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town.
She was a Spanish teacher with five years of service at Charles Town Middle School. She was a woman of strong faith, who touched the lives of many for the sake of Jesus, and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her loving husband of thirty-five years, Tulio P. Lazaro; one son, Carlos Alberto Lazaro Hacey; two daughters, Elba Lilian Lazaro Hacey, and Maria Teresa Schau and husband, Terry; eight grandchildren; one brother, Luis Fernando Hacey Vera; and numerous friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV, celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Jose Manuel Escalante and the Rev. Fr. John Ledford, assisted by Deacon David Galvin. Interment will be in St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Harpers Ferry.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m., at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry.
