Damola “DJ” Joseph Itobi, 38, of Charles Town, WV passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Fairfax INOVA Hospital in Fairfax, VA.

Born February 10, 1973 in Lagos, Nigeria, he was the son of Godwin Akpofene Itobi and Philomena Agnes Nwanze Itobi.

He was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Ranson, WV.

He was employed by Technica Corp of Dulles, VA. He was a dedicated systems engineer and project manager.

“DJ” was a 1997 graduate of US Naval Academy, the 7th Company. He was very active in many ministries at church, especially children’s ministries. He coached several youth sports, including Upward Soccer and Football, AYSO Soccer and assisted coaching duties with JCYFL. He was a member of EPASL.

He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and was endearingly known to certain family as “Uncle Blue Jay”.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, of 14 years, Sarah Nemetz-Itobi, at home; one son, Donovan and two daughters, Kendall and Sheridan, all at home; three brothers, Charles Itobi of Lagos, Nigeria, Phillip Itobi of Ashburn, VA and Emmanuel Itobi and wife, Victoria, of South Hampton, UK; one sister, Justina Itobi-Kotey and husband, Tony, of PH, Nigeria; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Beverly Nemetz and Michael Nemetz, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law and their spouses and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Covenant Baptist Church, 7485 Shepherdstown Pike, Shepherdstown, WV 25443, with Pastor Tim May officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, WV on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to benefit his children, may be made to The Bridge Community Church, P.O. Box 982, Charles Town, WV 25414
