Myrtle Josephine “Jo” Mentzer, 86, of Sandy Hook, MD, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born December 18, 1925 in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late John E. Reynolds and Margaret Walker Reynolds.

She was a member of the Church of God in Gapland, MD

She was a retired custodian with the Department of Energy in Germantown, MD

She is survived by four daughters, Donna Eagle and husband, John of Kearneysville, WV; Beth Cannon and husband, Timmy, of Brunswick, MD; Sheena Compher of Thurmont, MD; and Serena Beachley of Sandy Hook, MD; one son, Butch Mentzer and wife, Sally of Burkittsville, MD; one sister, Louise Merryman of Frederick, MD; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and loving friend, Betty Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Quentin Mentzer, one son, David Mentzer, five sisters, Virginia Joy, Lorraine Reynolds, Helene Weekley, Frances Grimm and Regina Simons and four brothers, Richard, Donald, John Wilson and James Reynolds.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Mary Garrott and assisting Pastor Gloria Staley officiating. Interment will be in Samples Manor Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Locust Valley Bible Church, 1323 Marker Road, Middletown, MD 21769.
