U.S. Veteran

William “Bill” Ellard Dunn, 77, of Charles Town, WV, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at his residence.

Born July 11, 1935 in Harpers Ferry, WV, he was the son of the late Ellard Lloyd Dunn and Edith Whitmore Dunn.

He was of the Baptist faith, and a veteran of the US Army.

He was a retired welder for Canam Steel.

William was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 948 of Charles Town, WV. He had a fond affection for his dogs, Scooby, Benji, and Sugar.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Warden of Ranson, WV and Donna Smoot and husband, John of Charles Town, WV and two step-children, Dennis Talton and wife, Barbara of Renick, WV and Sandra Bently of Charles Town, WV; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Gary Dunn and one sister, Shirley Jenkins, and four grandchildren, Heather Turner, Jennifer Warden, Justin Smoot and Trey Smoot.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Laverne Dunn, and his sister, Mary L. Dunn White.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, WV with Pastor Dennis Sieglaff officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens at Martinsburg, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403.
