Robert French, Jr. (Bob) passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012, at his home. He was born on October 2, 1939, in Jefferson County to parents, Robert and Alpha French. He lived most of his life in Jefferson County, and was married to Alice (Barnhart). Their sons are Craig and Steve, and daughter-in-law, Lisa.
Bob’s grandchildren, Hannah and Noah, gave him a great deal of pleasure. They had many games of cards, played word Trivia, Yahtzee and sledding in the winter. Bob and Noah both had a love of fishing and headed down to the river whenever they could. Many happy memories were made.
Bob was employed for quite a number of years by the federal government, but his love for farming and caring for his cattle were at the top of the list. Also, going to breakfast with his brothers, Charlie, George and John, became a favorite thing to do.
Church was a great part of Bob’s life, and often attended even when he wasn’t feeling well due to his illness. The love and kindness he felt there was the best.
Bob had a kind and gentle nature that made him well loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at St. James Lutheran Church in Uvilla, with Pastor Fred Soltow officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town.
