Mildred E. Craze, 86, of Harpers Ferry, WV and formerly Frostburg, MD, died August 27, 2008 at home after a short illness while under the care of Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle.

Born December 18, 1921 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Zarger.

She was a homemaker and retired from Sears in LaVale, MD in 1980.

She is survived by a son, James R. Craze and wife Celia, Davidsonville, MD; a son, Richard D. Craze and wife Shirley in Harpers Ferry; a daughter Deborah A. Manowski and husband Vernon in Glen Burnie, MD; a beloved niece, Susan P. Winner and husband Tommy in Frostburg, MD; grandchildren Stacey Manowski, Baltimore; James Craze and wife Cheree in Severna Park, MD; Aimee Craze in Washington, D.C.; Jonna Atkinson in Prince Frederick, MD; Jeffrey Craze and wife Janet in Owings, MD; Jason Craze and wife Lisa in Herndon, VA; and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, her husband, Lawrence J. "Billie" Craze of Frostburg, MD and her eldest son, John L. Craze of Forestville, MD.

She was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church for over 60 years. While living with her son in Harpers Ferry, she attended Camp Hill United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at Eackles, Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry on September 4 , 2008 at 6:00 PM. Pastor Luther Osment, Camp Hill United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry, will preside.

A graveside service will follow at Frostburg Memorial Garden in Frostburg, MD at a later date. Pastor Rebecca Vardiman, Frostburg United Methodist Church, will preside.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of a donation to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.
