Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, received her angel wings January 15th 2024 surrounded by her family at her side on her 100th birthday at Reston Hospital in Virginia.
Agnes Mae Twyman was born in Harpers Ferry, WV on January 15th ,1924 to the late Stephen and Irma Moody Greene.
During her early school years, she attended Grandview Elementary School in Harpers Ferry and her first year of high school was at Storer College. She graduated in 1944 from Page Jackson High School in Charles Town, WV. After graduating, she lived in Washington DC for a short period of time before returning to Harpers Ferry. From her early childhood until its closure, she was a lifetime member of the Historical First Zion Baptist Church in Harpers Ferry, where she sang on the choir. In 1962, she was employed by the "Old Cliffside Motel " in Harpers Ferry until her retirement. During her tenure at Cliffside, she developed friendships and memories that have lasted a lifetime. One of her favorite pastimes was to cook for her family and friends who would come to visit. She was also an avid Washington Wizards fan and loved her soap operas.
Agnes is survived by her loving children, Pershing Greene (Toni) of Clinton Md, Robert Twyman(Bonnie) of Germantown MD, Kevin Twyman of Harpers Ferry WV and Myrtle Boykins(Kevin) of Harpers Ferry WV. Also to cherish her memories are 14 grandchildren,25 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband William Milton Twyman, her children, William (Flick), Gloria (Jean) and Wanda Twyman, as well as long- time partner Harry S. Jones. The family would like to thank Angie and the Medical staff at the FMC dialysis center in Kearneysville for their special care. We also thank Chris and staff at the former Ryneal Medical Transportation Company as well as PCT transport for their excellent service.
The viewing will be held on Thursday January 25th, 2024 from 6-8 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV and her home going service will be held on Friday January 26th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
