In Loving Memory of Alan Newman
November 6, 1964 - 03/23/2025
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we honor the life and legacy of Alan Newman—a devoted father, proud grandfather, beloved brother, dedicated son, and a true cornerstone of his community.
Born on November 6, 1964, to Richard and Thelma Newman, Alan lived a life defined by service, strength, and an unshakable love for the people around him.
Alan is survived by his three sons-Desmond Newman, Malcolm Newman, and Trevon Ruff— whom he loved fiercely and selflessly. To them, he gave his all, every single day. His love and guidance will continue to live on through them and his cherished granddaughter, Sahmari Newman.
He is also remembered by his sisters Gwen and Rita Newman, brothers Ricky and Anthony Newman and life companion Kristy Ruff.
Alan was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Thelma Newman, with whom he now reunites in eternal peace.
Alan was a man whose presence could fill a room, a football field, or a neighborhood. For over 25 years, he dedicated his time, energy, and heart to the Jefferson County Youth Football League (JCYFL). What began in 1998 as a parent stepping up to coach became a life's calling.
Alan served as a coach, mentor, field maintenance lead, the league's iconic Grill Master, and ultimately, President of the JCYFL. In every role, he gave more than was ever expected and touched more lives than could ever be counted.
He didn't just teach football—-he built character. He instilled discipline, confidence, and the belief that greatness lives inside every young person willing to work for it. His "tough love" approach, paired with constant encouragement, made him a father figure to countless youth and a respected leader to all who knew him.
Alan's impact reaches far beyond the field. His charismatic energy, welcoming heart, and unstoppable drive made him a force in his community. Whether he was lending a helping hand, firing up the grill, or offering words of wisdom, Alan always showed up with purpose and pride.
Though his physical presence is no longer with us, Alan Newman's legacy will continue to shine through the lives he shaped, the sons he raised, and the community he helped build.
He will be missed deeply, remembered always, and honored forever.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Ranson Civic Center, 432 W. 2nd Avenue, Ranson, WV. Interment will follow in Myerstown Cemetery.
