Alexander Graham Malloy, 81, of Summit Point, WV passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Willow Tree Center in Charles Town, WV.

Born June 21, 1938 in New York City, he was the son of the late James Alexander Malloy and Ruth Adams Donley Malloy.

Alex was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Hall and husband, Carey of Summit Point, WV; his son, Roderick Malloy of Sacramento, CA; eight grandchildren, Abbey, Alea, Alexa, Ainsley, Audrey, and Austin Hall and Clara and Cove Malloy; one sister, Mary Malloy, nephew, David DeWolf and niece, Jennifer Murphy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine, in 2012.

Alex had five cardinal traits:

Prolific – daily devotions with Bible reading, attended church every Sunday & every holiday, over 50 books published, thousands of coins attributed, Dodge Caravan minivan first and last, first family to own a Fairchild gaming system, Friday family nights of dinner and a movie (Post Corner Pizza, Pancho Villa's, Chinese and Indian once and only once)

Optimistic – when one project was completed, he was a step ahead looking forward to the next project

Artistic – from paints to pottery to plants, his life was a tribute to historic art and culture

Evangelistic – I AM WHO I AM, Daily Bread devotionals, Bible studies and small groups

Comedic – severed thumb illusion, mysterious arm grab illusion, loud and crazy sneeze outbursts of random repetitive sounds, and "that's my burger coming up for air" jokes

Most of all, he loved Jesus Christ and shared that love with his beloved wife Elaine and with everyone they encountered.  His greatest personal achievement was his love shared with Elaine, together they raised two children and helped his sister Mary raise his nephew and niece.  His greatest professional achievement was 50 years of buying and selling ancient coins and artifacts through Alex G. Malloy, Inc.; building a publishing business Attic Books, Ltd. that thrived for over 20 years.  His greatest accomplishments:  his hosta hybrids won multiple national awards, he was the chapter leader for the American Hosta Association and served as President of the National Board Game Collectors Association.  His monogrammed "M" handkerchiefs were always at the ready in his pocket and his wardrobe consisting of undershirts, collared shirts and slacks were more of a way of life than a fashion statement.  He wore his father's family crest gold ring on his right ring finger all of his adult life until he breathed his last breath.  His father's favorite baseball player was Giants Hall of Famer Bill Terry and his favorite was Giants Hall of Famer Willie Mays.

His favorite questions:

"Which one is your favorite?"

"When are you going to:   write your book, come back to visit, …?"

"Is ____ a Christian?"

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on April 18, 2020 at Fellowship Bible Church.
