Obituary

Alfred "Punk" Lee Kidwell, 80, was born on April 20, 1944 and went to heaven on August 13, 2024.

He is survived by grandson, Austin Lane Kidwell.

He was preceded in death his wife, Barbara J. Kidwell and son, Devin Kidwell; his father and mother Richard and  Nellie Kidwell; one brother, James Kidwell; and one sister, Viola Kidwell Virts.

Punk was employed by State Senator, Louise Leonard for 25 years and 20 years at the Library Corporation as Shipping Manager. He retired on December 23, 2005. He was of the Christian Faith.

He served 8 years on the Bolivar Town Council and worked with the Potomac-Jefferson County Little League as manager, coach and umpire for 23 years. He was a life time member of DAV-and American Legion Post 71, Charles Town and a member of Harpers Ferry Friendship Fire Company. He also delivered the Martinsburg Journal for 20 years (1987-2007) and Morning Herald for 39 ½ years (1972-2011).

Punk's favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees and  his favorite football team was the WVU Mountaineers. He enjoyed working outside in his flower garden.

He served in the U.S. Army between 1965-1967, and retired as SGT.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Reverend Lisa Franzen officiating. The interment will follow in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV, and the Bolivar United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 205, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.
