Obituary

Allen Ray Douglas, 80, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away Sunday May 3, 2020 at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown, MD.

Born July 8, 1939 in Muldrow, OK, he was the son of the late Fred Douglas and Lois Birchfield.

He was a member of Shannondale Springs Chapel and was also heavily involved in Oakland UM Church.

Allen was a US Army Veteran during the Vietnam era with aeronautical training. He received his Masters degree in public administration from American University in his early career. Allen was a civil air patrol member. He retired from Naval Warfare Systems with over 40 years of service.

Pastor Allen was also an ordained minister and a member of Maryland Chesapeake district of Wesleyan Church and former pastor of Broome Island Wesleyan Church.

He is survives by his loving wife of 32 years, Joan Clayton Douglas, at home; in-laws, John and Nadin Clayton; niece, Natalie Fuentes and nephew, Michael Fuentes, both of Northern VA; grand nieces, Marisa and Gabi Fuentes and a large extended church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jason Allen Douglas, Jr., a sister, Joan Barilauex and a brother, Jack Douglas.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Friday, May 8, 2020 from 4-8 pm.

A private burial will be held at Edge Hill Cemetery.

A public celebration of life will be scheduled and published in July, close to his birthday.
