Allen Leo Hilliard & Phyllis Marie Hilliard

Allen, born on April 2, 1940, in Martinsburg, WV, passed away November 12, 2025, at Berkeley Medical Center. He was the son of the late Albert Leo Hilliard and Xenia Pearl Alger. He was of the Nazarene Faith.

Phyllis, born on March 30, 1945, in Berkeley Springs, WV, passed away November 17, 2025. She was the daughter of the late John Edison Thompson and Mary Snow Unger. She was of the Methodist Faith.

Allen served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps, totaling  7½   years combined. He also worked for O'Boyle Tank Lines, INC. as a Owner/Operator, Chemical Lehman Tank Lines, Howards Delivery Service, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 992 for 23 years, and retired on June 1, 1997.

Even in retirement, Allen planted a garden every Spring. He loved collecting antique tools, and wheelin' and dealin', he enjoyed auctions, flea markets, tractors, watching old westerns on TV and Sunday Dinners. Allen was a stranger to no one.

Phyllis attended Shepherdstown High School and graduated from the class of 1963. She went to the Hagerstown National Secretarial School where she obtained her Advanced Legal Secretarial Diploma in 1964.  She worked for the U.S. Government for over 30 years and retired in 1997. She loved to cook at home, and most always had an apron on in the kitchen. She also loved her daughter's horses, and had many farm birds, chickens, ducks and peacocks, she took care of with her daughter. She loved shopping with her daughter and daughter-in-law, especially for Christmas, and Black Friday shopping was a tradition. She was strong yet loved her family as Jesus would.

Allen and Phyllis are survived by their, one daughter, Veronica Hodges and husband, Michael, of Martinsburg, WV; one son, Johnny Hilliard and wife, April, of Falling Waters, WV; Allen's sister, Cynthia Rutherford; Allen's brother, Terry Hilliard and wife, Pam; Phyllis' sister, Judy Shanholtz; and Phyllis' two brothers, Johnny Thompson, Larry Thompson and wife, Lynda.

Joint services for Allen and Phyllis Hilliard will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10:00 A.M., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
