Almyra Joyce Gissing, 83, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV.

Born January 3, 1939 in Monaca, PA, she was the daughter of the late George Eller and Eleanor Schachern Eller.

She was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish of St. James the Greater in Charles Town, WV.

She retired from the US Government after 30 years of service. She enjoyed traveling the World with the Foreign Service. She was always very charitable and generous with her time, resources and her spirit, always putting others ahead of herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvette Gissing of Martinsburg; son, Gerry Gissing and Shelly of Harpers Ferry; sister, George Anna Czepiel and Bob; two grandchildren, Tyler Grace Davis and Katherine "Katie" Davis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Eller and one brother, Robert Eller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 16, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV with Father Timothy Grassi as the Celebrant, assisted by Deacon Dave Galvin. Interment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in Harpers Ferry, WV.

A Rosary will be held at the church at 10:30 on Friday.
