Barbara Ann Green 83, of Harpers Ferry passed away peacefully at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by her family on January 16, 2024.

Born on December 18, 1940, in Utica, MD, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mildred Shelton.

She lived most of her earlier years in Union Bridge, MD. She married Harold Stambaugh in 1958 and worked by his side on a dairy farm, raising their five daughters and son.  In later years, she would find love again with Robert Green and they would marry in 1994.

She is survived by her children Robin Turner and husband Steve of Frederick, MD, Kim Coomler and husband Kevin of Charles Town; Cathy Whitmore and husband Robert of Shepherdstown; Lori Hitt and partner Todd Swanson of Kearneysville; Harold Stambaugh, Jr. of Fayetteville, WV and Wiliam Shelton and wife Elaine of Baltimore, MD; as well as nieces, nephews and special friends Ann and Delores.  She was known as Mummaw to 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Harold Stambaugh, Robert Green, daughter Deborah Sanbower, son-in-law Donnie Sanbower, grandson Timothy Sanbower and granddaughter Nicky Hutson, Siblings Jerry Shelton, Carol Wilcom, and Joseph Shelton.

Barbara was known for her gift of love and caring for people. She would light up a room with her beautiful blue eyes. She enjoyed playing her organ, reading, and cooking for her neighbors.

A memorial service will be held at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road in Harpers Ferry, WV on February 3rd, 2024 at 11:00 am.  Interment will be private in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV 25414.
