Bennie  Whittemore, 86, of Charles Town, WV passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 at his residence.

Born November 14, 1937 in Calhoun, GA, he was the son of the late Ray Whittemore and Nannie Bentley Whittemore.

He was a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church and a US Army Veteran.

Bennie retired as Director of Operations at the Washington Post with over 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 661/2 years, Rosemary, at home, two sons, Billy Whittemore and wife, Teresa of Front Royal, VA and John Whittemore and Logan Ragsdale of Dallas, Texas, one granddaughter, Kristina Pirtle and husband, Matt, one great-granddaughter, Hadley "Hadie", and a host of extended relatives among the Tolliver and Rankin families.

Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Scott Truman officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Corey Rankin, Sean Rankin, Paul Rankin, R.D. Tolliver, Kevin Tolliver and Allen Fletcher and honorary bearers will be Buddy Tolliver and John Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
