Betty Joanne Simons, 85, of Charles Town, WV passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at her residence.

Born July 12, 1936 in Halltown, WV, she was the daughter of the late William C. Hoak and Margaret Bowers Hoak.

She was a member of Halltown Presbyterian Church.

Betty was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School, Class of 1954. She  retired from Charles Town Races as a mutual clerk in 2017, after 52 years of service.

She is survived by one son, Mark Simons of Charles Town; one grandson, Joshua F. Simons and wife, Stephanie, three great-grandchildren, whom she called her babies,  Mikayla Ann Simons, Rylee Nicole Brooke Simons and Tye William Simons and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank in 219 and her son, Michael Franklin Simons.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV with Rev. Alvin Russell officiating.
