Bobby George
Mccormick
June 5, 1937 – February 6, 2024
Bobby G. McCormick, 86, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, formerly of Kensington, Maryland passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
He was the son of George A. McCormick and Marie Robinson, both deceased. Bobby fondly shared stories about his adventures with his boyhood friends playing ball, swimming, hunting, and fishing in Brunswick, Georgia. Childhood wasn't all fun and games, he had many jobs which included delivering newspapers and shining shoes in the barber shop where his father worked. He had a small business as a fisherman in his teens until his boat began to leak.
He proudly served in the Georgia National Guard and the United States Navy.
He worked as an electronic technician in the private sector for a time. He retired from the Federal Government with over thirty years of service. He often said he worked to be able to do the things he actually wanted to do.
Bobby never met a stranger. He had wicked sense of humor and boundless energy. He lived his life his way. At one time he was an avid scuba diver and used to own a motorcycle. He loved good food. He could tell you the best places to go for a meal anywhere he'd traveled. He also loved watching football, baseball, all things related to technology, feeding the squirrels (even if they did destroy the wiring in his truck a couple of times), woodworking, and Christmas.
He was a member of the Alma Temple Shrine and prior to that a Scottish Rite Mason.
Bobby loved his family and they loved him. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Sandra G. McCormick; son Michael J. McCormick, daughter, Terry M. Faith (John D. Faith, Sr.); grandchildren, Ellen Dennison, and Robert R. Dennison; and his faithful feline companions Frank and Jessie.
