Carlton H. Brady, 87, of Shepherdstown, WV passed away November 2, 2026 at his residence.
Born November 10, 1938 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Roger and Mary Brady.
He worked for Corning Glass Works for 22 years. He was married to his wife, Barbara Mae for 67 years.
Carlton loved his garden and being with his best friend, Jr. Berry, having a beer or two. He not only had one garden, he had three. He recruited help from his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbor children to make the garden beautiful. He enjoyed butchering at the Everhart’s, he was the Lard Man! Carlton also was a die hard Redskins fan until Tom Brady went to the Patriots, then it was all about Tom Brady.
He is survived by four daughters who loved him dearly, Tresa Staubs (David), Carla Crouse Ainsworth, Crystal May (Ricky) and Melinda Pine, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, one brother, Robert “Bob”, and two sisters, May and Barbara.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, one brother, James, three sisters, Elaine, Ethel and Louise and son-in-law, Albert Ainsworth.
A big shout out to Dad’s caregivers, Kathleen Berry who helped take care of him for several years and always made him his favorite foods to eat, Carla Beer who also helped and was so sweet to him and recently Mary who started helping.
Special thanks to Jefferson County Aging, caregivers, Georgetta and Robin who also helped with our Mom when she was sick. Thanks for being part of our family. We would also like to thank Panhandle Home Health and Hospice of the Panhandle. We could not have taken care of our Dad without your guidance.
A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, November 5, 2026 from 5-7 pm at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.
