Charles Allen
Kenney
August 10, 1948 – May 11, 2024
Charles Allen "Alley" Kenney of Knoxville, Maryland, passed away Saturday May 11th, 2024.
The oldest of 4 children, Allen was born on August 10th, 1948, to Lewis Melton Kenney and Norma Lee (Smallwood) Kenney of Harper's Ferry, WV.
Allen is survived by his sister, Virginia "Ginnie Belle" (Kenney) Runion, brother-in-law John Runion, nephew Dusty Runion and niece Trista Runion and their families. Brother Dale Eston Kenney, sister in law Silky (Bartlett) Kenney, niece Crystal (Kenney) Gastley and nephew Chad Kenney and their families, Sister-in-law Jo Anne Hoffman (Kenney), nephews Lance Melton Kenney and Michael Lee Kenney and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Melton Lee Kenney, and nephew Shannon Kenney, son of Dale.
Allen was a 1966 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He worked as a boilermaker for Baltimore Local 193.Along with his father and brothers, Allen was a Freemason. He was a member and past Master of Brunswick Lodge, number 191, AF & AM.
Allen shared a very strong bond with his siblings, nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He was a part of all of their families, splitting his holidays between them.
Allen was a car enthusiast. Actually, "car enthusiast" may not be strong enough words. In fact, if you were to have asked his mother, she would have told you that Allen could build you a car during a conversation. Some may remember Allen's drag car, known as "Alley Oop", which made many appearances in the 70s and 80s at surrounding tracks. Some still called him "Oop" up until the day he died.
A member of the "Mountain Mafia" car club based in West Virginia, Allen attended car shows on weekends in the summer with some of his family and friends.
Allen was a kind, caring, generous man with a distinctive laugh, who was loved by so many. His family and many friends, some life-long, will miss him dearly.
Allen requested to be cremated with no funeral. The family is planning a Memorial "Hot Rod" car show where we will gather to celebrate our beloved Allen, aka Alley, aka Uncle Alley, aka Oop. We know he'd never turn down the opportunity to sit around and "build a few cars" with family and friends.
