Donna "Cookie" Kay Ashbaugh, 73, of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away, Friday April 10th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born Monday December 29th, 1952, in Hagerstown, MD. She was the daughter of the late George Walling and the late Louise Walling-Howlett.
Donna fought a long 8-year long battle with cancer. Through all the tests, procedures and short comings, she kept a positive outlook through her relationship with her Lord and Savior. Donna was a devout Catholic and attended St. James the Greater Church in Charles Town, WV.
Donna had an immense passion for her family, art and her faith. She was a member of the Potomac River Artist Guild, Shepherdstown Friday Painters, and attended regular classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Art. Donna worked at Cynthia’s Flower & Gift where she made a lot of lifelong friends through their love of flowers. Donna was loved by so many.
Donna is survived by her husband Paul Ashbaugh; sons Paul Ashbaugh II and Michael Coffman of North Carolina; brothers Greg Walling, wife Barb; Cash Walling, wife Brenda; two sisters, Tina Walling and Dorinda Carlson. Her two beloved nieces; her #1 girl Teresa Robinson and her angel Danielle Carlson; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Gary Walling, Donald Walling and Enoch Walling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV with Father Timothy Grassi as the Celebrant and Deacon Dave Galvin assisting.
Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Harpers Ferry, WV.
The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 6-8 pm, with a Roasary and vigil to be held at 7:30 pm.
A luncheon will be served at St. James after the interment.
