Obituary

David Lee Alger, 67, of Ranson, WV passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, WV.

Born December 15, 1955 in Ranson, WV, he was the son of the late Randolph Alfred Alger and Pauline Isabel Garrett.

He was of the Christian faith.

Dave was owner and operator of Alger's Auto Recycling for 50 years. He was a member of The Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 948 in Charles Town, WV. He was an avid bowler, past baseball coach and as always ready for a good card game. Dave always enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by two daughters, Gwen Kalbaugh and fiance' Matt Kuempel of Martinsburg, WV; and Jennifer Walter and husband, Chris of Charles Town, WV; one son, Doug Butrick and wife, Lonnie of Hagerstown, MD; five grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Kelsey, Katelyn, Kaleb, Anna and Aiden; one great-granddaughter, Sophia; seven sisters, Sharon Trovinger, Joan Underwood, Jean Painter, Shirley Alger, Linda Higgs, Barbara Beans, and Bonnie Dunn, two brothers, Kenny and James Alger and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a large loving family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Hill Alger in 2000 and two brothers, Gary "Jerry" Alger and Franklin "Frankie" Alger.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV with Rev. B.G. Turner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
