Obituary

David Elmer Lancaster was born on September 27, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Lee and Florine Lancaster, the fourth of five children. As a child, David attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Bishop S. C. Johnson.

David attended Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1966 at age 19, David was drafted to the United States Marine Corps, Vietnam War. The Precious Lord spared his life as he was wounded. David received a Purple Heart 💜 and was Honorably Discharged.

David was employed at Tastykake Baking Company, Coca Cola, Sleighton Farm Reformatory School and Philadelphia Baking Company.

In 1995 David relocated to Charles Town, West Virginia. He was employed at Hollywood Racetrack & Casino and Bruce's Auto Repair. David was a proud member of the First Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Fredericksburg, Virginia, under the leadership of Elder Tyrone Singletary and overseer Pastor Gino Jennings.

David leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Marlo Cooper and son, Keith, Joan Henderson, a special son- in-law Darral Cooper, grandsons Darryl, Darius, CJ and Cameryn, great grands Zyn and Zhavi, two sisters Lois and Estelle, one brother James, sister-in-law Yvonne, brother-in-laws Jimmy and Ronald, special neighbor (son) Chris Teabo, nieces Jeanie, Renee, Monique, nephews Dereck Sr, Kevin, Brian and Alfredie.  A host of great nieces and great nephews, relatives and friends. Special friends Franklin Gardner, Junior Brown, neighbors Robin and Steve, Celsa Munoz, Sis. Mary Bailey, Bro. William McNair, Elder Tyrone Singletary and Sis. Vernita Johnson, Doctors Lloyd Tracy and Noon Mahgoub, Dr. Fischler and my nurse Shanna Finley, Hospice of the Panhandle, Frank Jones and Ms. Wanda.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 16, 2024, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.

The family will receive friends an hour and a half prior to funeral service at the funeral home.
