David Burrell Long, 83 of Kearneysville, WV passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024 at his residence.

Born December 8, 1940 in Weston, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas Burrell Long and Mary Maxine White Long.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Shenandoah Junction, WV.

David was a graduate of Oceana High School, Class of 1959. He was a US Army Veteran, serving  from 1959 -1963, where he was a heavy-wheeled mechanic. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, was a Scout leader and a living "Daniel Boone".

He is survived by one daughter, Tracy Long and companion, George Hodges, Jr.  four sons, Bruce Long, Sr., Tom Long and wife, Tina, Greg Long and wife, Risa, Jeff Long and wife, Bunny, 11 grandchildren and 16 great -grandchildren, one sister, Laverne Newman, two brothers, Danny Long and wife, Sylvia and Tommy Long and wife, Susie, sister-in-law, Ella Mae Woods and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janieve in 2022, three brothers in law, Bill Newman, Buddy White and Jack Woods and daughter-in-law, Annette Long.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, March 22, 2023 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Dan Caldwell officiating.  Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm.
