Don Joel White, 91, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at his home.

He was born October 8, 1931 in Wiley Ford, West Virginia and was the son of Norman White and Rosa Smith White.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Don attended Dixie School in Wiley Ford, WV.

Don drove a coal truck at a very young age from Elk Garden, WV to Hagerstown, MD. He was also employed by B&O Railroad after a furlough, he made his way to Harpers Ferry, WV.  He found employment helping to build the Virginia Concrete Plant in Vienna, VA.  He was offered a job driving a cement mixer for Virginia Concrete for an additional 39 years, retiring in 1991.Don had a passion for antiques, auctions, tinkering with clocks, playing bingo, tip jars and watching corn hole at the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed car shows, eating out, family times and visits from friends.

He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" Casteel and husband, Robert and Faith Jackson and husband, Roy all of Harpers Ferry ; two sons, Donnie Layton of PA and Dennis White and wife, Holly of Harpers Ferry; nine grandchildren, Sheryl, Bobby, Jeffery Jr., Dennis, Collin, Payton, Nicole, Paige and Patrick; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ursula McDonald and husband, Jim; one brother, Norman "Newt" White Jr. and wife, Vickie, two daughters-in-law, Pamela White and Lora McKenzie and a furry friend, Snowball.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cecelia in 2000; four sons, Roger, Donald, Jeffery White Sr., and Terry Cogle; one sister, Esther Rinker and nine brothers, Kenneth, Norman "Tootie", Warren, Andrew "Butch", Harry "Doc", Coley, Russell "Russ", Bobby and baby brother, David. A special friend, Ethel Shaw.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Bucky Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Cemetery, 1497 Hostler Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
