Donald Hugh Atchison, 71, of Charles Town, WV, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep during the early hours of February 27, 2022.

Don was a beloved husband, brother, father, friend and granddad, who loved the Lord and loved his family.  To know Don was to love him, and loved he was. He was a man of integrity, honor and duty who's life served as an example of what a man could achieve if they fear God and devote themselves wholly to the ones they love.

Don was born in Lawrence, KS on January 30th, 1951 and grew up in Fort Worth, TX, graduating from Richland High in 1969.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy, Class of 1973, and joined the United States Marine Corps, taking part in Operation Frequent Wind at the end of the Vietnam War.  He went on to lead the Silent Drill Platoon at the Marine Barracks at 8th & I and achieved the rank of Captain whilst working as a Social aide to the White House.  Don received his MBA from Texas Christian University in 1983 and began a successful career in banking.

He married the love of his life, Carla, in 1988 and raised six children in Vienna, VA and later Davidsonville, MD before settling in Charles Town, WV.  The couple was known in the neighborhood as "the love birds" for frequently being spotted walking and holding hands.

Don was an active member of Fellowship Bible Church, and served as the Chair of the Finance Committee, usher and Bible study teacher.  He finished his career as a Managing Partner at the Greenwich Group International.

Don is survived by his wife, Carla; brother Mark, sons Brett, Grant, and Cole; daughter Meagan Dupras; son-in-law Joesph Dupras; daughters-in-law Lauren and Savannah and his most favorite of all, his three grandsons: Brayden, Ethan and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Chad and Keith; father Donald P Atchison; mother Penelope Atchison (née Custer) and sisters Nancy and Deborah Sue.

Funeral services will be held at Fellowship Bible Church on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022 at 11:00 with a visitation beginning at 10:00.
