Douglas Alston Evans, 79, of Ranson, WV passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at his residence.
Born August 19, 1944 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Elva Scott Evans and Hazel Ruth Walker Evans.
He was of the Christian faith.
He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in Vietnam and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Douglas retired from 3-M with over 35 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Independent Fire Company with over 50 years and from which he retired as an EMT/instructor. He was also involved with RESA VIII in Berkeley County and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley A. Evans, at home, daughters, Catherine Tregoning of Martinsburg and Rev. Dr. Kimberly Evans of Ranson, WV, sister, Dorothy Jean Clark of Finksburg, MD, grandchildren, Ashley Troup and Stephen Bush and three great grandchildren, Trinity and Maddie Troup and Nova Bush.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Arnold, Clarence and Oliver Evans and one great grandchild, Michael Troup.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Dr. Kimberly Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens Martinsburg, WV.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 6-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, EV 25430 or Independent Fire Company, 200 W. Second Avenue, Ranson, WV 25430
