Obituary

Edward Clyde Blankenship, Sr., 81, a nine-year resident of Berryville, VA, departed this life on Friday, August 5, 2016 at his residence.

Born on May 19, 1935 in Narrows, VA, he was the son of the late Emmett Clyde and Lula Pauline Tracy Blankenship.

He was of the Christian faith, and a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Shenandoah's Pride Dairy in Springfield after thirty-five years of service. He was an avid ham radio operator and woodworker. Eddie was a wonderful, loving husband and a great dad.

He is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Kennedy; three sons, Edward C. Blankenship, Jr. and wife, Ann, David Allen Blankenship and wife, Bessie R., and Donald L. Blankenship and wife, Dawna; three sisters, Shirley E. Schooley, Phyllis M. Carter and Sandra D. Carter; one brother, Eugene Blankenship; sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Elizabeth Blankenship (2011) and one son-in-law, Wayne Kennedy.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. Interment will be in Hillsboro Cemetery, Hillsboro, VA.
