Obituary

Esta Rosalean Broadway, 93, of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Care Haven Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born February 19, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Ollie and Edith Piper.

Esta was a member of the former Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, and in earlier years, Charles Town Baptist Church, Moose Lodge 948, Charles Town VFW Post 3522. She enjoyed swimming, playing the piano, and reading. She also loved her vintage cars over the years.

She is survived by two sons, David N. Slusher, of Inwood, WV, Daniel K. Slusher and wife, Judy, of Kearneysville, WV; five grandchildren, George, Tammy, Nathan, David, Jr., Danielle; twelve great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and special niece, Rhonda Short.

In addition to her parents, Esta was preceded in death by her husbands, William Neil Slusher, and Bobby Broadway;  one daughter, Barbara Jane Slusher Penwell and two sisters, Stella A. Painter and Delores C. Piper.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 25, 2024, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Pastor Scott Truman officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
