Everhart
February 26, 1934 – February 16, 2023
Floyd Atlee Everhart born Feb 26 1934 in Loudoun County VA, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his Heavenly family on Feb/16/2023 after a successful full life.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet Phillips Everhart, Father H.M Everhart, Mother Nora Davis Everhart, brothers, Grayson Everhart and Edwin Everhart and sister, Frances Edmonson.
Floyd a proud hard-working American farmer who represented the backbone of our nation grew up on the family farm located in Neersville, VA. Upon graduation from Lovettsville High School, Floyd went into partnership with his family's dairy herd operation. Floyd, in time, took over the family dairy herd operation with his wife, Janet and two sons Preston and John Everhart. They bred and developed a herd of purebred registered Holsteins under the name of FAE-JAN Holsteins. As typical of that time, he had many types of farm animals and grew many different crops to support the farm operation.
Floyd had a prodigious work ethic, a true love of farming, working the land and watching his hard work come into fruition. His skills were many; mechanic, veterinarian, carpenter, forester, butcher and many others. He had many other interests to include; hunting, boating and fishing. Floyd enjoyed watching and attending Redskin football games. Floyd was also an avid Washington National fan. Floyd was also known for having a pretty good fast ball back in the day!
Floyd loved to work in the garden and plant multitudes of potatoes for the family and keep his sons out of trouble growing up. Floyd also loved being with friends and family. Floyd was active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neersville, VA and served as Sunday school superintendent. Floyd also served on many board of directors to include Southern States Corporation, Maryland Virginia Milk producers and Farm Credit. Floyd was a strong supporter of Loudoun County fair and 4-H dairy judging teams. When Floyd retired from farming, he and Janet moved to Millsboro Del. close to the beach. They spent their time boating, fishing, crabbing and enjoying life.
He is survived by his son Preston Everhart wife (Sheree) Charles Town W.VA, son John Everhart wife (Anne) Hardy VA and seven grandchildren; Heather, Katy, Beth, Holly, Matt, Jessica and Jennifer. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and his companion in later years Shirley Phillips as well as many extended family members and friends. Our memory of him will be cherished forever.
