Obituary

Frank George Surdu, 80, of Charles Town, WV passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 at his residence.

Born July 1, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late George and Bertha Surdu.

He was a veteran of the US Army for 18 years.  He served in Vietnam, retiring as a Lt. Colonel with the Special Forces.

Frank was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish of St. James the Greater in Charles Town, WV. He was co-founder of St. Peters Doscent, on the board of the Charles Town Library, a Civil War re-enactor and a member of the Rough Riders.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn, at home; one son, Dr. John "Buck" Surdu, Ph.D. Army Retired Col.; one daughter, Sheila Surdu, and three grandchildren, 1 st Lt. Thomas Surdu, Samantha Surdu and Sophia Londeck.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Thursday, September 16, 2021  from 6-8 pm with a Vigil and Rosary at 7:30 pm.
