Gary Michael Hicks "Skeetz," 86, of Jefferson, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, September 19, 2023, surrounded by family. Born on May 5, 1937, to John Wesley and Margaret Olive (Nuse) Hicks, he grew up in Jefferson, Maryland and attended West Frederick High School. Skeetz married Charlotte Pearl Cooper on February 1, 1956, enjoying 66 years of marriage.

Skeetz served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic, while pitching baseball for the Air Force team. He was a gifted mechanic who could fix nearly anything. He worked at various times, and often at the same time, as a dairy farmer, and as a mechanic for multiple transport companies. He was a long-time, active member of Chestnut Grove Bible Church, where he was commissioned to manage Camp Tohiglo in Mercersburg, PA with the Fellowship of Bible Churches. Skeetz was a devout Christian and always opened his home to family, friends, and those in need.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife Charlotte (whom he missed deeply, and longed to rejoin), his brother Wesley, and granddaughter Sarah Ivy. He is survived by his sisters, Susan, Nancy, and Dorothy; brother, Richard, and his three children, Randy (Harriet), Harold (Betty), and Angela (Jim); six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00p.m. Saturday, September 30, at Jefferson Missionary Baptist Church, 4802 Broad Run Road, Jefferson, Maryland, with Pastor Stephen Cook officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the church.
