Obituary

Genevieve "Jean" Troxler, 92, of Martinsburg WV, passed peacefully in her sleep, on January 21, 2022 at Hospice of the Panhandle, in Kearneysville, West Virginia. Family would like to thank the exceptional and compassionate staff there, as well as all who have shown love and support.

Genevieve was born in Throop, a bureau of Scranton, Pennsylvania, from Polish immigrants. She spent time as a seamstress, worked in the Purple Cow diner, was the first in her family to drive a car, and enlisted in the Women's Army Corp (WACS) in 1958. She subsequently met, married, had children, and traveled around the world with her husband John Troxler(deceased) who retired as Chief of Administration at the Martinsburg Veteran's Administration in the late 1990's.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Gubinski of Martinsburg; one son, Larry Troxler of Newford, Conn.; two grandchildren, Jonathan Bradley and Anna Bradley and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Joseph Troxler, three sisters, Bernadette Maksimowicz, Toni Majercak and Millie Novak and one brother, Victor Maksimowicz.

Genevieve was dedicated to her home life and faith, and known for her kindness to strangers and sharp wit.

A memorial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Father Andy Switzer officiating.
