George Melton Hough, 84, of Charles Town, WV passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, WV.

Born January 20, 1941 in Kabletown, WV, he was the son of the late William Hough and Susan Popkins Hough.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Harpers Ferry, WV and a Veteran of the US Navy.

George was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School, Class of 1959. He retired from the C.I.A. with 32 years of service, followed by 20 years of loyal service to Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home.

He was Past Master of Logan Lodge No. 25 A.F. & A. M. in Harpers Ferry, WV and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 128, of Charles Town, WV.  George was a longtime volunteer with Friendship Fire Company in Harpers Ferry and a member of the Cheat Valley Hunt Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Clevenger Hough, at home, one daughter, Kathy Dopson and husband, Mike of Harpers Ferry, two sons, Steve Hough and wife, Tracy of Summit Point, WV and Scott Hough and wife, Susan of Boyce, VA, five grandchildren,

Sarah, Stephen, Juanita, Angeles and Aris, two sisters, Electa "Sally" Lilla and Frances Longerbeam, three sisters-in-law, Frances and husband, Jadie, Becky and husband, George and Cindy and husband, Al, brother-in-law, Ray and wife, Lois and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Mercer and one brother, William "Sonny" Hough.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with the  Reverend Dr. John R. Unger, II officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 6-8 pm.
