Gerald Miller Jenkins, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia passed away at his home on 29 April 2023. He was born on 17 December 1933 to the late Rodney Warren Jenkins and Mabel Belle Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Violet "Dean", of 71 years whom he adored, his brothers Elmer, Arnold, Lester, Donald, Emory, Melvin and Kenneth, one sister, Viola Jackson and two grand-daughters, Erica Lynn McGraw and Amanda Marie Jenkins.
Gerald has one living immediate family member, a sister, Joan Whitmer of Shenandoah Junction and husband, Jerry.
He is survived by his children - daughter, Donna Mae Piper and husband, Dave of Harpers Ferry; son, Brien Miller Jenkins and wife, Twila of Charles Town; son, Christopher Ray Jenkins and wife, Zena of Niceville, Florida and daughter, Norma Kay McGraw and husband, Farren of Charles Town.
He is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela Ashbaugh, Michael Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Brenton McGraw, Wesley Jenkins and Taylor Jenkins. In addition, he has eight great grandchildren, Nikki Robbins, Joey David Ashbaugh, Austin Jenkins, Callie Jenkins, Brooke and Ryan Jenkins and Gavin and Coulson McGraw. He also has four great great grandchildren, Thomas, Amelia, Hilda and Luna Robbins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald retired from Halltown Paperboard with 48 years of dedicated service as a superintendent. He was of Methodist faith and attended Chestnut Hill United Methodist church.
Some things Gerald enjoyed were riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with Dean, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and canning with Dean from the garden produce. He loved butchering with his father and brothers and Pontiac cars. He enjoyed operating his tractors and his mowers to keep his property maintained nicely. The special occasions and big family gatherings were a joy to Gerald. He enjoyed watching Steelers football, Orioles baseball and NASCAR racing. Gerald will be missed by his family and never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 1497 Hostler Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Bill Rowley officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill UMC Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Thursday from 6-8 pm.
