Longerbeam, Sr.
January 12, 1931 – March 15, 2023
Harry E Longerbeam, Sr., 92, of Charles Town WV gained his wings on March 15, 2023 in Jefferson Medical Center/WVU Medicine. Harry was born at home on January 12, 1931 to John Thomas and Lottie Mae Khone Longerbeam.
He was an avid Redskins and WVU fan; He loved and played football and basketball for Harpers Ferry High School, graduated with a sports scholarship. He in addition, played baseball for the Millville and Bakerton teams. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and loved to be outdoors, especially at the river. His laugh and wit was loved by everyone and he will be deeply missed. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church for 26 years and a faithful attender. He loved his children and grandchildren and was always excited for large family gatherings. He made such an impact on the family by his continued strength and love he showed them for so many years.
He was employed by the Valley Vault Company of 18 years and retired from East Alcoa Aluminum Company after 25 plus years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Frances Shenk Longerbeam at home; one daughter, Donna Kidwiler; two sons, Randy Lee and wife Sharon, Harry E Longerbeam, Jr. and wife, Mary; dear friend of the family considered second daughter, Linda Raye Myers; one brother, Donald "Butch" Longerbeam and wife, Sis, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren plus several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Monte Kidwiler, Sr.; three brothers, Granville, Robert, and Frankie Longerbeam; two sisters, Dora Mae Milburn and Louise James.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Fellowship Bible Church, with Pastor Van Marsceau officiating, followed by interment at Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV.
A luncheon at the church will follow interment.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 – 8 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the children's ministries, in his honor, to Fellowship Bible Church, 160 Daniel Road, Shenandoah Jct., WV 25442.
