Haydee Maria Puertas Sojo, 74, of Olney, MD passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Born September 1, 1947 in Caracas, Venezuela, she was the daughter of the late Omar Jose' Hernandez and Placida Sojo.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Haydee worked for Montgomery County Public Schools for 20 years, where she was also an active volunteer and PTA President. She was a model, journalist and professor. Above all she was an exemplary mother and grandmother.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Puertas Rucker, four sons, Jose' Antonio Puertas, Jose' Alejandro Puertas, Daniel Eduardo Puertas and Luis Enrique Puertas, 14 grandchildren, four sisters, Arancelys Hernandez Sojo, Marianella Hernandez Sojo, Arelys Hernandez Sojo and Dilia Hernandez Sojo, four brothers, Luis Guillermo Sojo, Omar Jose' Hernandez Sojo, Antonio Jose' Hernandez Sojo and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jose Antonio Puertas Gomez and two sisters, Nancy Beatrice Sojo and Dalia Hernandez Sojo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV with Father Manny and Deacon Dave Galvin. Interment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in Harpers Ferry, WV.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 6-8 pm with a Vigil and Rosary to be held at 7:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Haydee's name to St. James Catholic Church with 'Priestfield" written in the memo, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV 25414.
