Hazel Viola Barkdoll, 95, of Kearneysville, WV, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

Hazel was born in York, PA, on March 28, 1926, to Chauncey F. and Ida S. (Longacre) Trimmer.

She graduated from York High School in 1945, and from Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA, in 1948. In December 1948, she met Stan in the 2 ^nd unit of Brethren Volunteer Service. After volunteering their services for two years, they married on November 25, 1950.  Hazel served as a Registered Nurse at Bethany Hospital in Chicago, IL, and in Bemidji, MN. Her growing family moved to IA, then to PA.  They also lived in IL, NM, and MI before settling in WV.

Hazel was an active member of the Church of the Brethren. She loved reading, knitting, sewing, quilting, cooking and baking. Her cookies, pies, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and bread delighted family and large groups.  She enjoyed visits from her family and reminiscing about old pictures and telling stories.

Hazel is survived by her husband Stanley G. Barkdoll; three daughters, Pamela and husband Vernon Ragsdale of KS, Linda and husband Gerald Stewart of AZ, Debra and husband Kevin Zagumny of MI; two sons, Larry Barkdoll and wife Naomi Rohrer of Ranson, WV, and Scott Barkdoll and companion Pam Berenbaum of VT; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; her sister Helen and husband Levi Ziegler; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her brother John F. Trimmer and sisters Ethel M. Altland and Grace Lefever.
