Helen Clare M. Grizzle, 75, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, WV.

Born March 8, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was a devoted Catholic and an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Shepherdstown. She promoted the protection of the environment, and devoted much of her free time volunteering for a variety of civic causes and helping those in need. She held a special passion for animals, and owned and trained a variety of dog breeds, including her award-winning Dalmatians.

Helen is survived by her brother, Howard K. Grizzle II, of Springfield, Virginia; her niece, Catherine M. Grizzle; her daughter, Marianna L. Woodard; her granddaughters, Brittany L. Flanary and Ashleigh N. Flanary and a great-grandson.

She will have a natural burial at the Cool Spring Natural Cemetery at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, Virginia, on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Father Andy Switzer and Father Mathew Rowgh as the Celebrants.   A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 106 S. Duke Street, Shepherdstown, WV on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Father Andy as the Celebrant.
