(McIntyre) Hill

Helen Marguerite (McIntyre) Hill of Shepherdstown, WV, dies on April 14, 2026, at Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community, Boonsboro, Maryland.
She was born February 12, 1928, in Westernport, MD, to the late William G. (Gunning) McIntyre and Marguerite (Beck) McIntyre.
She was a graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport, MD, in 1946 as the Salutatorian of her class, and a 1949 graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, MD.
Helen was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Newton D. Baker Veterans Hospital, Martinsburg, WV, for 30 years, retiring in 1985 as a Head Nurse and periodically as Night Nursing Supervisor.
Her husband of 51 years, David Frank Hill, Jr., predeceased her in 2002; son, Richard M. Hill; three brothers, William F. McIntyre, David B. McIntyre, M.D., and Kenneth R. McIntyre; and two sisters-in-law.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Shepherdstown, WV, for over 65 years, a member for 60 years and past Matron of Shepherdstown Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Historic Shepherdstown and for many years a docent at its museum. She was a former member of the Shepherdstown Women’s Club and had been a volunteer with Interfaith Caregivers, Red Cross Bloodmobile, Blood Pressure Clinic, and Trinity Thrift Shop.
She is survived by two children, Betsy J. Hill (Homer Speaker), D. Frank Hill, III (Ann), both of Shepherdstown; daughter-in-law, Darlene (Smith) Hill of Martinsburg; three grandchildren, Richard “Ricky” M. Hill, Jr. (Ashleigh), Jennifer Hill Rippeon (Johnathan), and David Frank Hill, IV (Serena) of New York City; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Denise McIntyre, and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be private at Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, WV.
