Howard G. Demory, 88, of Charles Town, WV, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at his residence under the care of Hospice.
Born November 5, 1924 in Shepherdstown, WV, he was the son of the late Walter and Irene Demory.
Howard attended school in Shepherdstown. He helped to work the Demory Farm for many years after his father passed away at a young age. Howard retired from Pioneer Seed Distribution. He was a self-employed dairy farmer and custom crop operator. He had the honor of being the Outstanding Young Farmer in the state of West Virginia. He also served in the US Navy Aviation.
Howard was active in his community where he was a member of Bolivar International Pentecostal Church. He served as the past president of the Full Gospel Business Men and was a member of the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 45 years, Charlotte P. Demory; three daughters, Pamela J. Nichols, of Kearneysville, Sharon D. McGuinn of Charles Town and Cheryl L. Danforth of Clearbrook; six grandchildren, Brian McGuinn, Neil Bartles, Kelly Parsons, Amy Wilson, Teresa McGuinn, and Christa Lopez; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Marguarite Huffer of Middletown, MD, Naomi Miller of Falling Waters, WV Juanita Moler of Winchester, VA and Rebecca Prather of Orlando, FL and one brother, Dale Demory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Margaret Staubs Demory; his son-in-law, Michael P. McGuinn, who worked by his side; his brother-in-law, Edward Staubs; two sisters, Annabell Osbourn, and Velma Moler and brother, Lee Demory.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Bolivar International Pentecostal Church, 87 Old Taylor Lane, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. B.G. Tuner officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, WV on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.
