Irene Susan Bauer, 71, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Jefferson Medical Center, in Ranson, West Virginia.

She was born June 13, 1951 in Elyria, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Eugene Kopp and Christine Marek Kopp.

Irene graduated from Ohio University in 1973. She spent her career teaching in Oberlin, Ohio and at the Country Day School of Jefferson County in Charles Town, West Virginia, where she retired as Head of School.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Bauer; one daughter, Jacquelyn Phillips (Kevin); step-children, Tracey Maxwell (Jim), Karyn Calaway (Scott) and Thomas Bauer; grandchildren, Charlie, Elizabeth, Abigail, Henry, Elyza and Kevin; sister, Alice Poduska and nieces, Jennifer Carandang (Matt) and Stefanie Titterington (Chris).

Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Visitation only will be held Monday, December 5, 2022 from 1-3 pm at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425.
