Obituary

James "Jim" Corbin LaRue, 74, of Rippon, WV passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 28th, 2023 surrounded by loving family. He graduated from Charles Town high school in 1967. Jim was a member of the FFA, Jefferson County Young Farmers, Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Clarke County Young Farmers. He was a member of the Atlantic Team Penning Association (A.T.P.A) and the United States Team Penning Association (U.S.T.P. A).

Jim and the LaRue family founded Outback Arena in 1995 on Withers LaRue road, which hosted many local team penning events. He also participated in local tractor pulls at county fairs and events.

Jim was an owner and operator of Fairview Farm and Repair service. He was also at one time distributor with Airco Welding Supply. Other employment included People's Supply, Whitmore and Arnold, LSI, Alban Cat, Lee Snyder, R.G. Griffith, Alta-Vista Farms and Mercerview Dairy. Jim and his son Jeremy operated Fairview Farms cattle company together.

Jim's water truck service was always available to the Citizens Volunteer Fire Company when needed.  He transported donations made by local citizens to Myrtle Beach, SC after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Jim also provided emergency hay relief to central WV after major flooding in 1985.

Jim was preceded in death by parents Winifred and Warren LaRue, daughter Jessica LaRue, Granddaughter Hannah, step-brother Jimmy Hammond and brothers-in-law Brad Butler and Tim Davids.

He is survived by his wife of two years, Jeanne Lake; sons, Cory LaRue (Kimmie) Jason LaRue (Tonya) and Jeremy LaRue (Danielle); grandson, Heston Larue; sister Carol Davids and two nieces, and dearly loved step-daughters, step-grandchildren and close friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, SEPTEMBER 17 , 2023 at 3pm, with visitation one hour prior, at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.
