Obituary

James Warren LaRue, 102, of Rippon, WV, passed away February 28, 2023, at his home.

Born January 28, 1921, in Summit Point, West Virginia, he was the son of William Warren LaRue and Rosalie Mead LaRue.

Warren graduated from Charles Town High School and went to work at Funkhouser's Tool & Dye, in Winchester, VA, for four years.  He then enlisted in the Army on July 14, 1943, where he served as Staff Sergeant in the European and Pacific Theaters of War during WW ll.  Warren received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Three Bronze Stars; the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with One Bronze Star; the Philippine Liberation Ribbon; the WW ll Victory Medal; and the Good Conduct Medal.  He was discharged on December 7, 1945.

Warren then went to work at Victor Products in Ranson as a Tool and Dye maker.  Thereafter, he joined the Air National Guard, in Martinsburg, as Master Sergeant, and retired after twenty-five years.  Warren also operated his own machine shop business and offered skilled services to the community, including government contracts.

Warren was a long-time member of St. John's Episcopal Chruch, Rippon and Middleway, serving as Sr. Warden and Jr. Wardens.

Warren was a founding member of the South Jefferson Ruritan Club and received the forty-four-year perfect attendance pin.

He enjoyed reading, history, boating, golf, Wii, playing cards, and owing German Sheperds.  He loved his family and honored God.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-three years, Winifred Kackley LaRue; his granddaughter Jessica LaRue; and son-in-law Aaron Hill.

Warren is survived by his wife Anne Foley LaRue; son, James C. LaRue (Jeanne); daughter, Carol L. Davids (Skip); daughter Carol Hill, and son James Hammond (Derby).

Grandchildren include Mikiel Davids (Odette); Morgan Seidel (Eric); Cory LaRue (Kimmie); Jason LaRue (Tonya); Jeremy LaRue (Danielle); and Christina Williams (Delaney).  Great-grandchildren include Heston LaRue, E. J. Seidel, Baylor Williams, Madison Burner, Shelby Rhodes and Grant Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 1:30 pm, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, WV.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.
