Janet B. Shackelford, 74, of Ranson, WV died Friday, March 20 after a long illness.

She was born Janet Wilson on October 30, 1951 in Bridgeport, WV to Edgar Kyle Wilson and Helen Wilson.

She graduated from Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, WV. On June 27, 1971 she married Michael Shackelford of Fairmont, WV. The couple originally lived in Fairmont, WV, and eventually moved with their son to Ranson, WV in 1997.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, who passed away in 2021. She was also preceded in death by several of her siblings, most recently Danny K. Wilson of Morgantown,WV in 2023.

She is survived by her son, Benjamin Shackelford of Ranson, WV, one sister in law, Pat Wilson, of Mt. Lookout, WV, her mother in law Violet Jean Vincent of Fairmont, WV, a brother in law, Aaron Shackelford of Morgantown, WV, and additional friends and relatives, including nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and at the time of her death was a member of the Charles Town congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Much appreciation is expressed to all who provided love and support during this difficult time.
