Joan Shipe, 80, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away peacefully at home in the care of Hospice on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Born on December 25, 1945, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ida Remsburg. She was of the Lutheran faith.

Joan retired from K-mart with 40 years of service. She especially loved her K-9 companion, “Littles”.

She is survived by her three children, George, Jr. “Dink” and wife, Joyce of Harpers Ferry, WV, Janet Shipe and Ed Willey of Hedgesville, WV, Timothy Shipe of Frederick, MD; four grandchildren, Robert Shipe and fiancé Stephanie Tull of Martinsburg WV, Jennie Shipe of Ranson, WV, Jessica D’Angelo and Brian Yowell of Rohrersville, MD, Zachary D’Angelo of Hagerstown, MD; ten great-grandchildren; Adrian Granados, Brianna Yowell and fiancé, Deaundre Weedon, Mckenzie Granados, Daquon Shipe and fiancé Haylie Barrett, Calli Shipe, Xandar Granados, Caden Yowell, Dawson Yowell, Emma Yowell, and Anyia Shipe; two great-great-grandchildren Malakhi Shipe and Kaliya Weedon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband George L. Shipe Sr.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Reverend Kay Coates “Mom Mom” officiating.

The family and friends will gather at the Bolivar Community Center from 1:00 P.M. -4:00 P.M. following the service for a celebration of the life of Joan Shipe.
