John Lewis McDonald, 89, of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away on September 1, 2026, in Winchester, VA.

Born on February 5, 1937, in Engle Switch, WV, he was the son of the late Marshall and Annie McDonald.

John retired from the Halltown Paperboard Manufacturing after 56 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Wilda Virginia McDonald at home; five daughters, Kay Kimble and husband, Larry, Kimberly Whittington and husband, Ronald Lee, Sr., Debra Fillinger, Karen Klich and husband, Steven, Melissa Walters; four sons, Donald Lee McDonald and wife, Donna, Kenneth Wayne McDonald, Jeffery McDonald, Sr. and wife, Rebecca, Kevin Lee McDonald and fiancé, Mary Hammond; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, David McDonald; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant son, John Lewis McDonald, Jr.; one grandson, Brian Scott McDonald; and one sister, Helen Smoot Strickler.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Paster Ollie Baer officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral service at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, 2938 Charles Town Road, Kearneysville, WV.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
