Obituary

John A. Myers, 88, of Charles Town, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility, in Kearneysville.

Born January 1, 1938, in Perry, W.Va., he was the son of Amos D. and Viola S. Myers.

After serving in the Army, John worked as a communication technician for AT&T, retiring with over 30 years of service.

He loved his family, going out to breakfast with family and friends, watching his grandkids play sports and socializing with everyone. At one time, he was an avid bowler and for several years, coached bowling to the area youth.

He is survived by his children, Debby Seal and husband, Danny, of Harpers Ferry, Cindy Mangold and husband, Jimmy, of Kearneysville, Susan Hevener and husband, James, of Richmond, Va., and Jay Myers and wife, Heather, of Kearneysville; eight grandchildren, Chris Seal, Katie Mangold, Betty Varner, Jessie Williamson, Sami Jones, Sarah Hevener, Jacob Myers and Ollie Myers; two great-grandsons, Leo and Max Varner; one brother, Gene Myers, of Charles Town; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine S. Myers.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2026, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, with Pastor Duane Jensen officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 16, at the funeral home.
