Joyce Lee Elder Rhyne debuted on July 9, 1935 in Asheville, NC and took her final bow on April 30, 2025 in Frederick, MD.

Her parents, husband, Kenneth Rhyne, youngest sister, Linda Owens, and granddaughter, Rachel Pevarnik, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Mildred Bender.

In her 89 years, she raised five children in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.; Karen (and spouse John, deceased) Maher, Juliette (and spouse Vincent) DePiro, Kenneth (and spouse Michelle) Rhyne, Cynthia (and spouse Michael) Ahalt, and Laurie (spouse Jeffrey) Rhody. The siblings provided 12 grandchildren, and there are too many great-grandchildren to count. The younger generation will notice an absence in texts from Grandma.

The red-headed maven had an extensive knowledge of the rich local history, living in Charles Town, WV for 45 years.

Mrs. Rhyne was an avid reader, whimsical storyteller, and musical theatre aficionado. She believed in "dessert first" as a way of life, and she lived life in color.
