Lee Curtis Kranenberg (Kirt), 84, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026. He was the son of the late John and Mabel Kranenberg of Bakerton, WV.

He is survived by the love of his life, Ada, daughter Debbie Russell, granddaughter Brittany Donlon (Dylan), grandson, Kevin Russell and great grandsons, Jaxx and Axel. Coming from such a large family, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Kranenberg, six brothers and three sisters.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, after being stationed in Vietnam, he was employed as a manager in in-flight catering at both Dulles and Michigan International Airports. Then, he went on to work many years as manager and supervisor at various McDonald’s restaurants in Virginia and Maryland. Kirt was well loved and developed a special rapport with many customers and employees. He remained close with many of them after retirement.

Kirt will be remembered for his big bear hugs and welcoming smile. His favorite pastimes were playing golf, betting on the horses and playing the slots at Hollywood Casino. He also loved hauling around Brittany and Kevin to and from school and loving on Jaxx and Axel.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff at the Veteran’s Administration, Jefferson County Commission on Aging (especially to Mary Elliott), and Home Helpers care givers. We were blessed to have some of the most loving, caring support they provided. Each person displayed tremendous patience and care when spending time with Kirt.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Mike Weller officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Hamilton, VA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
