Obituary

Margaret Ann  King "Peggy" of Bunker Hill, WV passed away Friday, August 26, 2022 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Peg was born January 24, 1944 in Worcester, MA, and was the daughter of the late Michael Cotter and Ellen Dennehy Cotter.

She was a member of St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV.

Peg worked as an x-ray technician while living in Washington, DC and Kensington, Maryland. She moved to Harpers Ferry in 1981 and became a resident of Bunker Hill in 1994. She was a lover of animals and provided care for generations of abandoned felines. She was instrumental in supporting her husband's career activities. She enjoyed spending time with and listening to the stories of her seniors. As a girl Peg enjoyed Irish dancing and was proud of her Irish heritage.

Peg was a "soldier's girl" marrying John King while he was a soldier in 1969 and supporting him through a 40 year career with the National Park Service. She was a longtime supporter of several charities including PAWS for animals in Harpers Ferry. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, John King of Bunker Hill, her brother, Michael Cotter of Maryland, three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her brother, William Cotter and sisters, Noreen Peletier and Mary Bretsnieder.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.
